Voting as a responsibility….

In any democratic body, elections are used as a means to get the majority mandate of the members to decide its leaders for a period of time. The voters obviously vote on what they think is beneficial to them almost on a selfish mode. The aspiring leaders try to woo the voters in whatever way possible to get their votes which leads to them becoming enslaved. This paves the way for the not so competent leaders to come forward to utilise these weakness of voting and the voters voting for the leaders who favour them unconditionally. A Responsible voter will choose leaders who can be fair, transparent and make his decisions for the larger good of the body than himself. A Responsible Leader is one who is honest, sincere and does keep in mind that his decisions would be fair to all the members of the body and not only for the people who vote for him. Tall order for both!!

Leadership as a way of life…

Recently I heard a Guru who defined leadership in a simple way. He said that anyone who impacts other people in a positive manner is a leader. He cited examples of a homemaker, street vendor, businessmen, politician,  etc to give an example. This clearly means that leaders enjoy sharing their knowledge, wealth, skills to make a positive impact on others around them. It is not at all about the leader himself. To practice being a leader is to change our inner self to enjoy this very act of giving without any expectations. Unless one accepts to enjoy this sharing, it is an ordeal if one wants and so acts like a leader.

Team spirit mutliplies individual strengths…

A smart individual competes with himself all the time to improve. A Team just exponentially multiplies its collective strengths to become happy and strong. A family,a dance group, a sports group,  a section of society, a population of a country,  a collections of all human on this earth are all teams. Team members in a powerful team all compete with themselves to improve and in parallel contribute to make their team a happy place. There is mutual respect for each other and acceptance of each other’s strengths and weaknesses as their own. The single minded focus is on a common purpose, a shared goal, a collective vision and nothing else matters. There is no ego among themselves but a drive to constantly improve thier collective strengths. Try and learn to be a good team member first before expecting to be accepted as a team leader. Everyone is equal in a team but just playing different roles at different points in time as required to suit  a common purpose.
